(WVUE) - Jesuit alum Deion Jones intercepted Drew Brees with under two minutes to go in the game, killing a possible tying or winning score by the Saints. The Falcons escaped with a 20-17 victory.

Brees went 26-of-35 passing for 271 yards, with two touchdowns and a pick. He found Tommylee Lewis for a 26-yard touchdown in the second quarter, and Michael Thomas caught a 1-yard touchdown in the third.

The Saints lost key contributors in the contest due to injury. Do-everything running back Alvin Kamara took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Jones. Kamara went into concussion protocol after the hit.

Two other Saints exited the game with concussions, offensive lineman Senio Kelemete and safety Kenny Vaccaro.

On the defensive side of the ball A.J. Klein exited the game with an injured groin, and defensive lineman Trey Hendrickson also was taken off the field with an ankle injury.

The Falcons touchdowns came on a Devonta Freeman 1-yard run, and a Matt Ryan to Mohamed Sanu 8-yard connection.

The Saints defense picked off Matt Ryan three times. Marshon Lattimore, Chris Banjo, and Marcus Williams participated in the thievery.
