NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Mayor-elect Latoya Cantrell denies reports that she brought a former state senator convicted of money laundering to a New Orleans legislative delegation meeting.

According to our partners at NOLA.com | The Times Picayune, Derrick Shepherd was introduced at the Dec. 18 meeting by Cantrell.

State Sen. Conrad Appel says Cantrell also made comments about second chances.

Cantrell says Shepherd was not invited to participate in the meeting and did not accompany her.
