(WVUE) - A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for south Louisiana today. Heavy rain is likely, with hourly rates at 1-2" in some cells. Rain totals for today will be in the 2-4" range with some higher amounts possible. Never drive down a flooded roadway!

This is all being driven by an approaching cold front from our west and a Gulf low expected to track along the coast. Heavy rain is likely throughout the day. Severe weather is not expected. This evening, the heaviest rain will push east, but around parade time, there could still be a few heavy cells. The later we go into the night, the better the forecast looks.

A few showers may linger into the wee hours of Sunday morning, but then it appears like a dry day with a mix of clouds and sun. Next week will begin seasonably cool with a fair amount of sunshine.
