Traffic moving after vehicle strikes NOPD unit at Morrison Road, flees

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The westbound lanes of I-10 at Morrison Road were shut down Monday morning due to an accident.

The accident involved a semi-tractor, a New Orleans Police Department unit, and another vehicle that fled the scene, according to NOPD.

According to the report, an officer was blocking traffic for a disabled vehicle when he was struck by a red vehicle that fled the scene.

The semi-tractor tried to avoid the officer's vehicle and swerved, causing his truck to become disabled across the three lanes of traffic.

According to NOPD, the semi-tractor did not strike the officer's vehicle.

The officer was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries and was released.

Traffic is now flowing smoothly in the area.
