NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The University of New Orleans has received a donation of $1 million to help upgrade the school's chemistry labs.

School officials say the donation came from an anonymous donor.

UNO plans to use the money for new lighting, washing stations and chemically resistant benchtops and flooring. The university will also add new storage areas and safety equipment with easy access to eyewashes and safety showers.

On top of the new additions, the school plans to renovate the lab prep and stockroom with new storage capabilities and an improved workspace.

Officials say the upgrades will be made to the introductory chemistry lab, the quantitative analysis and instrumental analysis lab and the organic lab.

President of UNO, John Nicklow, says the gift will help give students a "first-class lab experience."
