THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) - The employee of a Thibodaux store was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stealing from his employer in order to buy drugs in the store parking lot, according to Thibodaux Police Chief Bryan Zeringue.

Trevor Theriot, age 28, faces charges that include organized retail theft, possession of heroin and possession of suboxone. He was arrested after the findings of an internal investigation by his place of employment in the 200 Block of North Canal Boulevard were turned over to police.

The store was tipped off to the theft by another employee. During the investigation, it was discovered that on Feb. 28, Theriot stole a container of Similac baby formula and exchanged it for Norco pills in the parking lot of the business. Theriot also admitted that he stole chicken noodle soup and gum in the past, but did not know the exact dates, according to police.

As police were searching Theriot after taking him into custody, they said they found suspected Suboxone and suspected heroin on Theriot. He was taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where he is being held on a $10,500 bond.
