NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A great white shark that has been tracked for over a year visited the Florida Panhandle this week.
Hilton was caught off the coast of Hilton Head, South Carolina by OCEARCH during the Lowcountry Expedition.
According to OCEARCH's website, Hilton was named after the local community who has graciously welcomed researchers. Hilton was also tagged on the anniversary of Lydia.
The latest readings from his tracking map appear to show the shark moving toward Louisiana waters.
Hilton is 12.5 feet long and weighs 1,326 pounds.
