NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department says a suspect has been arrested in connection with a robbery at a Gentilly business last Sunday.

Officers arrested 19-year-old Thomas McGinnis in connection with an armed robbery in the 2000 block of Caton Street on April 22.

Officials say McGinnis was arrested by police just before 3 a.m. Saturday in 2100 block of Benefit Street.

According to investigators, McGinnis walked into the business around 10:40 a.m. and demanded that all the customers get behind the counter. He then demanded the money from the register.

Once he got the money he fled the business on foot towards Mount Olivet Cemetery and then towards Dillard University.

McGinnis has been booked into the Orleans Parish Central Lockup where he has been charged with armed robbery with a gun.
