NOPD: Man steals vehicle after taking victim’s car keys from gym

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department is searching for a man accused of stealing a vehicle from a gym in the Freret neighborhood in April.

The incident happened just after 4 p.m. in the 4600 block of Freret Street.

According to police, the suspect, who is identified as a white male, walked from Cadiz Street and approached the front door of the Anytime Fitness Gym. The suspect entered the gym after one of the patrons exited and bypassed the gym's security measures.

The suspect went to storage bins used by gym patrons, took a set of vehicle keys and exited the gym. He then got into the victim's vehicle and left the area southbound on Cadiz Street.

Police say the vehicle that was reported stolen is a black 2010 Mazda Tribute with the Texas license plate DP1J772.
