ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Residents can donate blood Thursday to help a North Shore deputy who was shot in the line of duty.
St. Tammany deputy Justin Nail was shot on Easter Sunday while attempting to catch a car burglary suspect.
While Nail has not needed blood since the shooting, the blood center has opened an account to help him financially.
The center will issue a $10 credit for each blood donation received in Nail's name.
Money raised will help pay for doctors visits and household expenses.
Before he was shot, Nail worked as a mechanic to supplement his income. He is not able to do that work as he recovers.
