HARVEY, LA (WVUE) - The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting in Harvey involving a deputy officer.
JPSO issued an alert about the shooting at 3:30 a.m., but it was not clear exactly when the shooting occurred.
The officer was shot in the leg and taken to a local hospital. The injuries sustained in this incident is described by Jefferson Parish authorities as "non-life-threatening."
The shooting happened at Manhattan Blvd and Harvey Blvd where the officer was engaged in a vehicle pursuit, that ended in a traffic stop. It is unclear if the suspected shooter was the driver of the vehicle.
A suspect is in custody, according to JPSO officials. The suspect's identity has not been released.
