ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - St. Tammany Parish sheriff's deputies recovered the body of a swimmer from Lake Pontchartrain. Deputies were called by Fontainebleau State Park rangers Sunday around 5 p.m. The swimmer was reported missing earlier in the day.
According to police, the swimmer was last seen in the water, just south of the Fontainebleau State Park Fishing Pier.
STPSO Marine units recovered the swimmer's body in seven feet of water, located 500 yards west of the pier. The body has been turned over to the St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office. The identity of the swimmer has not yet been released.
