NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The St. Claude Avenue Bridge repair closure has been extended to 7 a.m. on May 23.

During the repair of the pin joint at the St. Claude Bridge, it was discovered that the bronze bushings inside the operating strut require replacement.  This work will extend the overall project timeline by three days.

No vehicular, bicycle or pedestrian traffic will be able to cross over the St. Claude Avenue Bridge during the construction. Marine traffic will continue to pass normally.

The alternate routes for vehicles to travel during the closure are the Judge Seeber and Florida Avenue Bridges. Cyclists and pedestrians can only use the Florida Avenue Bridge during the closure. The detour map is attached to this advisory.
