COVINGTON, LA (WVUE) - Detectives with the Covington Police Department arrested a former Covington High School teacher Friday, booking her with Prohibited Sexual Conduct Between Educator and Student.

Through the investigation, detectives said they learned that Kelly Lynn Burbach of Madisonville had befriended a student. On at least one occasion, they said Burbach drove the student away from campus to a secluded area and committed a lewd or lascivious act.

Detectives presented an arrest warrant to Judge Martin Coady Friday afternoon. After finding probable cause, Coady signed the warrant. With the help of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office, Burbach was arrested without incident.

After paperwork is completed, she will be booked into the Parish Jail.
