(WVUE) - For the second year in a row, Tulane (25-33) will not be playing in the NCAA tourney after a disappointing 18-7 loss to Houston. The loss to the Cougars, ended the Wave's run in the AAC tourney.
The Cougars scored nine runs in the fourth inning, and the Wave bats could never respond.
"Obviously the start put us behind the eight ball, but I was proud of the kids for continuing to battle," Tulane head coach Travis Jewett told Wave sports information.. "Houston jumped out to an early lead, and I though our guys did a good job offensively just trying to get back in it. We made it 7-5 with momentum back in our dugout, but they had a nine-run inning and we were swinging uphill the rest of the day from there."
