NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - On Thursday Mayor LaToya Cantrell named Jade Brown-Russell as acting director of the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board. Russell was one of two candidates recommended by a committee tasked by the mayor with helping select options for the role.
"Jade Brown-Russell has my faith and confidence, and I believe she will provide the leadership and the steadiness needed as acting Executive Director," Cantrell said in a press release. "Jade has done an excellent job helping the City to get our arms around the problems we face at the S&WB, and I am grateful that she is going to step up and serve admirably."
The appointment of an acting director is a temporary one, with Russell serving in a short-term capacity while the search and interview process continues for a permanent candidate.
