New details revealed about gymnastics coach's alleged child sex crimes
GRETNA, LA (WVUE) - The Luling gymnastics coach accused of sexual crimes against children appeared in court for a bond hearing Tuesday morning and prosecutors say there are at least six juvenile victims in this case. They also revealed there could be more.
Jonathan West, 26, is facing more than a dozen charges, but the victims' claims are almost all the same.
According to prosecutors, West was a gymnastics coach at Flipnastics in Luling. They said he would pick up his students at their home and drive them to the gym in his personal vehicle.
All of the victims allege during that drive, West would try to touch them inappropriately on the thigh or stick his hands down their pants.
The youngest victim is a 10-year-old boy who said the suspect groped him in January.
A 13-year-old victim said West touched him on the car ride to the gym at least 20 times, and on one occasion West showed the teen a pornographic film and performed oral sex on him.
In all, west is facing four counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile and 10 counts of sexual battery.
Comissioner Paul Schneider set West's bond at $190,000. If he is released, West will be placed on house arrest and a restraining order has been issued for him to stay away from the victims.
Kenner police are investigating claims from a seventh victim, another 10-year-old boy. Because this was just a bond hearing, West has not issued a plea for the charges against him.
