NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Representative Steve Scalise (R-Metairie) is back on the baseball field nearly one year after he was shot at a Congressional baseball team practice.
On June 14, 2017 Scalise and other Republican lawmakers were practicing for a charity Congressional baseball just outside of Washington D.C.
Scalise was on second base when gunfire rang out. He and four others were struck. Scalise has undergone multiple surgeries since the shooting.
Nearly one week to the date, Scalise was seen on the baseball field practicing for this year's game.
Arizona Senator Jeff Flake posted a picture of him practicing on Twitter.
Scalise replied to Flake's tweet, saying he was happy to be back on the team.
This year's game is scheduled for June 14 at 7 p.m.
