NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The New Orleans Saints first-round pick will undergo thumb surgery after minicamp this week, according to NFL analyst Ian Rapoport.
It is unclear when Marcus Davenport suffered his injury, but an NFL Network report said the rookie defensive end should be fine by training camp.
The Saints Training Camp starts in July.
In the first round of the NFL draft, the Saints decided to trade up for the number 14 pick and draft Davenport from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
The Saints traded up for the 14th pick from the Green Bay Packers. In the trade, the Saints gave Green Bay the 27th pick of the draft, their 7th round pick of this year's draft and their first-round draft pick in next years draft.
According to the report, the injury should not curtail Davenport's rookie acclimation.
