(WVUE) - In this edition of Football, Fútbol, Food lweigh in on the announcement of Lance Moore and Pierre Thomas going into the Saints Hall of Fame, dissect the World Cup coming to America, and stop at one of the best Italian restaurants in the New Orleans area.
The Saints Hall Of Fame announced today, Lance Moore and Pierre Thomas will be the latest inductees. I feel the timing of their elections is perfect timing.
In Super Bowl 44, Moore and Thomas were both key contributors to a Saints victory over the Colts. Thomas racked up 85 yards of total offense, including a 16-yard touchdown reception from Drew Brees. Moore hauled in 21 yards receiving, with a 2-point conversion to make the score 24-17. They both owned good numbers in the Black and Gold, but will always be remembered as SB champions.
Which brings us to the 2018 Saints. This group has the best chance of winning a Super Bowl since the 2009 squad. Sean Payton's crew is dangerous on both sides of the ball, just like the 2009 outfit.
I know, I know, it's eight years away. But it's fantastic that the World Cup is coming back to America for the first time since 1994.
As most of you are well aware, U.S.A. didn't qualify for the 2018 World Cup. Well, as a host country in 2026, the Stars and Stripes automatically qualify. Great news eight years out.
Hopefully they don't need automatic qualification to make some noise in 2026. The bitter pill of missing this World Cup, should be fuel to make things better ASAP for team U.S.A.
For the first time in five years I hit up Mosca's last weekend, and it was INCREDIBLE. For those not familiar with Mosca's, it's in Avondale, serving Italian food, and it's cash only.
The way to go is eating there with a group, and go family style. Order like half the menu and you won't be disappointed.
We went with Italian crab salad, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken cacciatore, chicken a la grande, and oysters Mosca. All meals delivered on so many levels. I would highly suggest going soon, and an added bonus, the leftovers!
