State threatens to sue Plaquemines Parish over Mid-Barataria project

PLAQUEMINES PARISH, LA (WVUE) - The State of Louisiana has threatened to sue Plaquemines Parish over the largest coastal restoration project in history.

Parish government has blocked the state from taking soil samples for a project that aims to divert Mississippi river water into the marsh on the West Bank.

The goal is to build new land, but many fishermen fear polluted, fresh river water will ruin their catch.

The Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority set a deadline for June 29 for the parish to allow the project to move forward, or a lawsuit will be filed.
