Report: Bacteria spike reported at Fontainebleau Beach

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - St. Tammany officials posted warnings signs along the beach in Fontainbleau State Park after water quality tests showed high levels of bacteria.

The Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation found fecal coliform levels are more than 135 times the recommended level for swimming.

State Park officials told our partners NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune they think the elevated levels are weather related.

Visitors will be notified at the park entrance, but the beach will not be closed to the public.
