(WVUE) - Saints defensive end Alex Okafor was cruising in 2017, his first season in New Orleans. Through ten games he accumulated 4.5 sacks, 43 tackles and two forced fumbles. But in their Week 11 matchup at home against Washington, Okafor tore his Achilles which ended his promising season prematurely.
Okafor has since been rehabbing and hopes to get back on the field by training camp. If he returns to his previous form from his injury, he could end up starting opposite Cam Jordan. However, he'll have some competition for his job. The Saints traded up in the draft to take UTSA defensive end Marcus Davenport.
For Okafor, it's all about his health. If he's back to 100%, he should make a difference along the defensive line either as a starter or reserve.
