NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - One person died in an apartment fire Wednesday night.

Around 9:11 p.m. The New Orleans Fire Department responded to a fire at 1201 Casa Calvo Street.

Firefighters found flames coming from the second story windows of an apartment complex, according to the report.

They made entry through the front of the home and were able to contain the fire to the one apartment.

When the fire was put out, firefighters found an adult male victim next to a bedroom window in the apartment.

The neighbor downstairs said he went to investigate noises from upstairs and found the apartment above on fire and immediately called the fire department.

The NOFD, the New Orleans Police Department and Louisiana State Fire Marshal are all cooperating with the investigation of this incident; and the American Red Cross assisted in the mitigation of this incident.
