NOPD: Neighbor charged with murder of St. Claude woman killed Sunday
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans police detectives have arrested a neighbor in the shooting death of a woman last Sunday in the St. Claude neighborhood.
The NOPD identified the suspected killer as 51-year-old Kierston Johnson.
She has been charged with one count of second-degree murder in connection with the homicide of 36-year-old Jessica May-Orr.
Police say around 2:46 p.m. they received a call about a shooting in the 1900 block of Port Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest inside of an apartment.
Jessica May-Orr was transported to the hospital by EMS where she later died from her injuries.
Police say the two women were neighbors, but they haven't given a motive for the shooting.
The investigation remains active at this time.
