St. Charles deputy injured during traffic stop
ST. CHARLES PARISH, LA (WVUE) - A St. Charles deputy was injured during a traffic stop Tuesday.
Around 11:40 p.m. the deputy executed the traffic stop at Hwy. 90 and LA 306. During the stop the deputy learned the suspect in the vehicle was wanted out of Chicago on drug charges.
The officer asked the subject to step out of the vehicle when it appeared as though the driver was going to drive away, according to the report..
According to the report, the officer then attempted to reach into the vehicle to disable it at which time the suspect drove away dragging the officer a short distance.
The officer was treated and released from St. Charles Hospital for moderate injuries, according to the report.
Wednesday Lamar Lathan of Aurora, Illinois was arrested and charged with resisting arrest by violence or force, and aggravated battery.
He was also charged with being a fugitive from Chicago, theft under $750.00, two headlights required, and possession of marijuana. FUG/Chicago, Theft under
Lathan's girlfriend, Tiffany Suggs of Yorkville, Illinois, who was in the vehicle at the time of the incident was also arrested.
Suggs was charged with possession of MDA Ecstasy.
