NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Firefighters say the body of a man was located this morning in the Inter Coastal Waterway Saturday morning after being reported missing Friday.
Officials say firefighters were dispatched to the 21000 block of Chef Menteur Highway for a medical call around 10:20 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived at the scene, they learned that it was a possible swimming incident. They also learned a man had been reported missing Friday by family members who called again Saturday morning.
A flatboat was dispatched and firefighters with the help of other agencies began searching the Chef Pass Bridge boat launch area where the missing male was last seen.
During the search, the body of an adult male was found approximately two miles from the Chef Pass Bridge.
The investigation has been turned over to the New Orleans Police Department and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
