Lawmakers: Funding for flood protection only half the battle
NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - State lawmakers said $1.4 billion in new funding for flood protection projects in Louisiana is only half the battle.
The money includes new levees for people in St. James, St. Charles, and St. John parishes.
A task force that oversees the projects says many of the flood prevention projects that were approved have not been changed in 30 years since they were proposed.
Lawmakers did promise to keep working until all proposed projects are complete.
