NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - WVUE-TV FOX 8 is proud to announce former New Orleans Saints Pro Bowl running back and Saints Hall of Famer Deuce McAllister will join FOX 8 as the station's New Orleans Saints analyst. McAllister fills the role left vacant when long-time broadcast legend Jim Henderson retired earlier this year.
"When Jim (Henderson) let us know he would retire at the end of the Saints 2017-18 season we knew we had big shoes to fill," said Tim Ingram, FOX 8 Vice-President and General Manager. "Deuce was our first pick. He is a great fit for the FOX 8 team and we know he will deliver the level of in-depth Saints analysis fans want."
McAllister played eight seasons for the New Orleans Saints, after being drafted 23rd overall in the 2001 NFL Draft. He is a two-time Pro Bowler, making appearances in 2002 and 2003. He holds the team record for career rushing yards with 6,096 and was the Saints first running back to have 22 100-yard games.
"This is a great opportunity for me to continue my off-the-field career in sports and I'm looking forward to working with Juan Kincaid and the outstanding team at FOX 8," said McAllister.
McAllister will appear in multiple time slots, including "Training Camp Game Plan" airing at 10:35pm on July 26 and August 2. He will be a weekly contributor on Saints game days for "FOX 8 Live Tailgate," as well as for post game on "Final Play" Sunday nights at 10:30pm. McAllister will have weekly appearances on "FOX 8 Morning Edition" during the "Black and Gold Rewind" segment on the mornings following Saints games. McAllister will then share his analysis on "Black and Gold Review" airing Monday nights at 10:35pm. In addition, McAllister will also appear on "FOX News at 5pm" the nights following Saints games with "Deuce's Two-Minute Drill". Deuce will continue his duties as Resident Pro on The Big 870, WWL Radio where you will hear him at various times throughout the week and as the color analyst for New Orleans Saints football games.
"Deuce gives us (FOX 8) a unique viewpoint when analyzing games," said FOX 8 News Director Mikel Schaefer. "Deuce brings an inside the NFL huddle perspective. His knowledge and passion for the game will deliver special insight to our viewers." The Saints will play 10 of their 16 regular season games and 3 of their 4 pre-season games on FOX 8.
