NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A man in a wheel-chair went on a stabbing rampage in the middle of an intersection in the French Quarter Thursday night, according to The New Orleans Police Department.
According to initial NOPD reports, Keith Martin was obstructing traffic at Exchange Place and Iberville Street when a car approached the intersection.
Martin began stabbing the hood of the victim's car, according to the report.
Police said he then stabbed another victim who was crossing the street. That victim suffered a chest wound, according to NOPD.
The victim in the car began to pepper spray Martin when a third victim and EMS intervened. They instructed Martin to drop the steak knife in his hand. Martin did not comply, according to the report.
The report said an NOPD officer on scene also instructed Martin to drop the knife, but he wouldn't.
Officers were able to take Martin into custody after tasing him.
After he was arrested, Martin spit on one of the victims before being transferred to an an area hospital, according to the report.
