(WVUE) - The Saints returned to the practice field to kick off their 2018 season as training camp got underway in Metairie.
It may be Drew Brees' 13th summer in New Orleans, but that hasn't diminished his drive.
"I'm still having fun, a lot of fun," said Brees. "Every year is a new year, a new challenge, a new team."
For the first time in four years, the black and gold are in the position of a contender defending their division title.
The new approach is part of the intrigue for Brees.
"A lot of the same challenges and goals and aspirations that you start every training camp with but there's always new dynamics and circumstances and guys you're trying to get used to," Brees said. "Just that same level of excitement and anticipation for what we can be and this is where we build it, where we establish our identity and just excited to get started."
Brees and company will be back on the field Friday morning leading up to Saturday's practice, which is the first open to the public.
