Mother of victim pleads with shooters to turn themselves in

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A mother of one of the victim's of a mass shooting over the weekend has a message for those who took the life of her son.

Robin Jackson was at work Saturday night when she learned her son Kurshaw was one of three people killed in the shooting on South Claiborne.

"Just put the guns down and stop all this unnecessary killing," Jackson said. "Stop just killing innocent people that don't have anything to do with anything. You're taking people's lives. You're hurting the parents so bad."

Jackson said Kurshaw was a twin, a hard worker and planning for the future with his daughter. She is going to graduate this year, and Kurshaw was supposed to go.

Jackson has been left struggling to understand how her son's life could be taken in such a senseless crime.

"He goes to get a daiquiri and he gets killed," Jackson said. "Whoever was involved with this, please give yourself up. You tore me apart."

Kurshaw Jackson was among the two men and one woman killed.

New Orleans police say they are working with Louisiana State Police, U.S. Attorney's office, ATF and the FBI to identify the shooter, or shooters.

NOPD Chief Michael Harrison is once again urging members of the community to call NOPD Homicide Unit detectives at 504-658-5300 or Crimestoppers with any information that may help in the investigation. Crimestoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
