NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A man who was chased through a crowd of people at a daiquiri shop Saturday night before being fatally shot had a criminal history, according to the district attorney's office.

Jeremiah Lee died after two gunman chased him down South Claiborne, shooting him until he died after he collapsed.

A spokesman for Leon Cannizzaro said that the intended target of the two gunman, Jeremiah Lee, was facing trial stemming from an incident where he shot his own brother.

Cannizzaro's office said Lee also had several prior charges, including cocaine distribution, possession of marijuana, domestic abuse, and a weapons violation

Police believe the shooting, which killed two others and wounded seven, was a result of gang activity.

"After supposedly one target, they take out 10 and it could have been a lot more," said a witness. "It just sounded like pop, pop, pop, then just a barrage of like boom, boom, boom, boom over and over and over. And then it just stopped and that's when the screams started."

As of right now, the suspects have not been identified.

Harrison is urging anyone with information to call Crimestoppers or NOPD. A reward of $25,000 is being offered for information.
