Versatility on offense helping Louisiana native Boston Scott
METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) - Growing up in Zachary, Louisiana, Boston Scott was a big fan of the Black and Gold. Now the sixth-round pick, can take his love of the Saints to the next level.
"Very exciting. It's a great opportunity to come out and play with some of the guys that I grew up watching on TV. Now I'm out there grinding with them every day. It's truly a spectacular opportunity," said Boston Scott.
One of his favorite Saints, Drew Brees. is now his quarterback, and one of his mentors.
"It was pretty surreal. I saw him, and 'I was like that's Drew Brees, the G.O.A.T. As we been in this process going through training camp. We're teammates, we both want to win, and that's what we're pushing towards," said Scott.
Scott is listed at 5'7". He can play special teams, and catch passes out of the backfield. Sounds a lot like former Saint Darren Sproles.
"Look Darren was one of those amazing players. But Boston has some traits that we saw, and you see them periodically on the field. He's still learning and he's further along in the passing game. But I think he's been improving and he's going to be in that mix as a return (man) and we'll see what he can do. But he does have some of the skillsets in regard to versatility. But it'd be fantastic if he could get even in that neighborhood, said Saints Head Coach Sean Payton.
To get better acclimated to the Saints offense and No. 9, Scott spent a week in San Diego this summer with Brees, and the receiving core.
