Saints defense rules the day at Tulane workout

Pat Swilling talks preseason predictions

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - It was a lively practice at Yulman Stadium, plenty of Saints fans in attendance. The highlight of the night had to be 2-minute drill, where the defense dominated, after intercepting Drew Brees two different times.

Sean Payton: It was good. We talked the other night just about turnovers. Turning turnovers into points. There's been a handful of teams in our league history that's had a lot of scoring plays on defense. What the percentages are winning games when you score. Obviously in '09 we scored a lot on defense. They made some good plays on the ball tonight. I thought the tempo was good. Well there's a mindset. Generally you don't have to block ten, but you need ten looking to block two. I saw that firsthand take place. Once you get one, you think of any type of fumble recovery, or interception as being a chance. There's not a lot of guys generally to make a play, it's a mindset. It was a little bit of sarcasm in the celebration, but I'll take it.

Payton said that a few of those celebrations may have been a little bit over the top with sarcasm, but he said he'll take that.
