2-alarm fire in Algiers displaces 3 families
Fifteen NOFD units were able to bring the fire under control at 6:30 p.m.

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A two-alarm fire in Algiers displaced three families Monday.

At 5:19 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a fire at 5800 Tullis Drive. First arriving companies found a two-story wood frame four-plex with heavy fire in a vacant apartment that extended to the adjacent apartments.  As firefighters battled the blaze, a second alarm was requested due to the rapid spread and high temperatures.

One firefighter was treated and released on the scene due to heat.

Fifteen NOFD units were able to bring the fire under control at 6:30 p.m.

The Louisiana State Fire Marshal, EMS and Entergy assisted.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
