JEFFERSON PARISH, LA (WVUE) - State Police have arrested a suspect wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Metairie.

Troopers have been investigating the crash that claimed the life of Gordan Poydras on Aug. 10. The crash occurred on the I-10 east collector road at Causeway Boulevard.

State Police said as a result of media coverage and tips from the public, troopers located the suspect's vehicle on Monday.

The suspect, Elva Lafaye of New Orleans, turned herself in on Tuesday. She was arrested on a felony charge of hit-and-run.

According to State Police, an arrest warrant was signed in Jefferson Parish on August 13 for her arrest.

State Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing, and criminal charges may be forthcoming.
