(WVUE) - For tight end Ben Watson it's season #15. But he admitted he didn't know if he was going to get there.
" I would say that at the end of last year I was very unsure if I was going to continue playing," Watson said." I knew that if I did play there only a very small number of places that I'd consider going.
One of those teams were the saints..because it was here where Watson had the best statistical season of his career in 2015...
" There's a combination of different factors, Watson said." For me, that last year was the combination of those factors. There was a need there. We had one of the best tight ends to ever play a game (jimmy graham) left. The offense was catered to him in a lot of ways. They needed somebody to make some of those plays. I had the opportunity to do so."
As of now, Watson looks to favorite to start at tight end. He's battled injuries through camp, but even with his production and experience he knows nothing is guaranteed.
"Right now my focus is on making this team, it's on making a role (for) myself on this team, it's on competing every day when i come out, prepare myself in the meeting room, it's doing what's asked of me to the best of my ability. That's how you approach this game for me at least."
