CHALMETTE, LA (WVUE) - After nearly a year away from his family, Maj. Barrett Lancon had a huge surprise in store for his three daughters as he returned home from a nine-month deployment in Iraq.
Lancon was one of more than 60 soldiers who returned from overseas today to greet family and friends eager to welcome them home.
Lancon and his wife Laura set up a special surprise for their three daughters, who thought dad wouldn't be home until next week.
Rhyan, Peyton and Korey Lancon were all surprised when their father walked into the cafeteria at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Chalmette.
"A lot of emotions, my heart is pounding as well, just very excited and happy to be home, it's been a long ten to twelve months, training and our deployment, so it's good to be back," Lancon said.
The family is now planning a trip to Disney World next month.
