Louisiana native Lainey Wilson named Female Country Artist of the Year at People’s Choice Awards
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Louisiana’s own Lainey Wilson took home another huge honor for her work as a country music artist.
The singer was named Female Country Artist of the Year during the 2024 People’s Choice Awards on Sunday, February 18. The honor came just two weeks after Wilson won the Grammy Award for Best Country Album for her album “Bell Bottom Country.”
Wilson is staying busy in 2024, embarking on a new tour and also announcing that she’d like to film more episodes of the hit series “Yellowstone.”
The singer’s “Country’s Cool Again” tour will feature performances in at least 30 cities. They include Monroe, Louisiana; Lubbock, Texas; and Southhaven, Mississippi. Click here for more information.
Wilson said on the red carpet of the Grammy Awards that she is also interested in taking part in more episodes of “Yellowstone.” She plays Abby on the show.
“I’m ready for it, I’ll tell you that,” Wilson said. “I’m waiting to see what’s happening. I told [”Yellowstone” creator] Taylor Sheridan, you give me the call and I’ll be there.”
“Yellowstone” shut down during the Hollywood Strikes, but rumors swirled that the show was going to begin filming more episodes this spring.
Paramount announced that the show will return to audiences for its final episodes in November, but the production schedule is unclear.
