New Orleans celebrates Pride month with block party, parade, naked bike ride

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans is set to host its annual Pride celebrations throughout June, featuring various events highlighting the city’s vibrant LGBTQ community and its allies.

The central attraction of the month-long celebration is the New Orleans Pride Weekend, June 7-9. Highlights of the weekend include PrideFest, a famous block party outside The Phoenix Bar on Elysian Fields Avenue on June 8, with Bounce Queen and New Orleans icon Big Freedia headlining.

The NOLA Pride Parade rolled through the Marigny and French Quarter neighborhoods.

The New Orleans Black Pride Weekend is also from June 6-9, with activities centered around celebrating the queer people of color community.

The Community Festival at Armstrong Park on June 8 featured music, performances, and various health and community resources.

Other significant events include the Black Queer Legacy Summit on June 7, which offered workshops, panels, and exhibits, and the Longue Vue Family Equality Day on June 9. The New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity will also host multiple Pride Build events throughout the month, providing community engagement and support opportunities.
