Human remains found in Houma

HOUMA, La. (WVUE) - Authorities in Terrebonne Parish are investigating the discovery of human skeletal remains.

Deputies responded to an address in the 100 block of Westwood Drive after a resident reported what they believed to be human bones near a home.

Responding deputies confirmed the presence of human skeletal remains.

Detectives and investigators with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office were called in to begin a full investigation.

The identity of the remains and the cause of death remain unknown at this time.

“This is certainly a unique investigation,” Sheriff Soignet said. “But I have confidence that our detectives will do what is necessary to find the facts and circumstances of this complex case. As always, we ask for patience from the community as we continue to investigate this incident.”
