NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - In this edition of FFF: SEC Media Days around the corner, USA vs. Mexico in the Gold Cup final, and hitting Philadelphia for cheese steaks.

FOOTBALL

SEC Media Days in Atlanta is a little over a week away. That’s where the 16 SEC schools bring their head coach, and three of their players to preview the upcoming season.

Between 750 and 1,000 media members cover every word said by the SEC schools. The media are also asked to fill out an SEC preseason poll, ranking the teams 1-16.

I’ll give you my top-5 before the big event in Atlanta:

1) Texas

2) Georgia

3) LSU

4) South Carolina

5) Alabama

With Arch Manning at quarterback and weapons at wide receiver in Ryan Wingo and DeAndre Moore, the Longhorns hold my top spot. Texas will be tested in Week 1 against Ohio State on FOX 8.

FÚTBOL

Tonight, one of the biggest world rivalries in soccer will be renewed, U.S.A. vs. Mexico.

The United States Men’s National Team will matchup with El Tri in the Gold Cup final. Mexico leads the all-time series in Gold Cup finals, 5-2. But, the U.S. won the last meeting in 2021, 1-0.

You can watch the match on Sunday night at 6 p.m. on FOX 8.

FOOD

Over the Fourth of July holiday week I hit the East Coast. Yes, I wanted to see the sights offered, but of course I wanted to taste all of the great restaurants and delicacies.

In Philadelphia, I went for the Philly cheese steaks. The legendary spots are Pat’s and Geno’s. So my crew split cheese steaks at both spots. Both very tasty and the vibe was cool. Only difference between the two, Pat’s cooks in thin slices while Geno’s chops the slices into small cubes. I wasn’t blown away at either spot.

In the past, I was more impressed with Jim’s or Angelo’s. So try the tourist spots, but also do your research on some other cheese steak joints.
