METAIRIE, La. (WVUE) - A water main break in Jefferson Parish flooded a Metairie residential street.

A Jefferson Parish spokesperson tells us that it’s unclear what caused the leak on the 1600 block of Madison Street.

Crews drained the water at about 10:30 p.m. Friday night. The treatment plant confirmed the break did not affect system pressure.

A resident in the area says a leak in the area had been a problem for about a week. The resident says they called for service again Friday when the leak grew worse and water began to rise.

The parish has not issued a boil water advisory.
