Covington goes crazy over North Shore native Kade Anderson’s CWS performance for LSU
The former St. Paul’s pitcher is expected to be a Top 5 pick in the 2025 MLB Draft
COVINGTON, La. (WVUE) - Five minutes away from where LSU pitcher Kade Anderson went to high school in Covington, one bar was packed full of fans all watching the game.
At Covington Beer Garden, LSU fans jumped on top of tables, waved flags, and had a sparkler flame thrower, all while celebrating LSU winning the College World Series in Omaha.
Anderson delivered big for LSU and made the Northshore region proud. He gave an epic shutout performance in his second straight dominant start, putting LSU one win away from its second national championship in three years.

As they say, the rest is history. The Tigers went on to earn their second CWS title in three years, one game after Anderson’s unforgettable performance in Omaha.
“I woke up this morning and I thought what an awesome idea it would be to be an LSU baseball player that wakes up and has the national championship on the line,” one fan told Fox 8. “That’s all they’re thinking about all day long, all morning long. The chance to play for a national championship and go out there and win the big game.”
And that is exactly what the tigers did. They went out there and blew out Coastal Carolina.
With each notch on the scoreboard, the windows at Covington Beer Garden shook...and the chanting would start back up again.
“Every time they score, even though I’m sitting outside, you know you can always hear through the windows or everywhere,” said another fan. “It’s unmatched, the feeling is unmatched.”
“I love the crowd inside, they’re crazy, they’re fun, they’re hyped. Just as they should be.”

And the hot and muggy weather didn’t keep people away.
“The rain held out, thank goodness. Got a little wet earlier, but it’s okay. Doesn’t matter, we would still be here.”
But nothing short of actually being in Omaha could beat the energy in Covington.
“Last time they won a national championship, I was at work. Being here and watching it live, it’s amazing. It’s a great feeling.”
