Man dies in overnight fire in Jefferson, sheriff’s office says
JEFFERSON, La. (WVUE) - A man died early Saturday (Aug. 2) in an overnight house fire, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
The victim’s identity and age have not been disclosed.
The JPSO said deputies and firefighters responded to a fire at a single-family home in the 3000 block of D’Aquin Street around 12:55 a.m. The attic of the home was engulfed in flames, the agency said.
After the fire was extinguished, first responders found “an unresponsive adult male located inside a room. ... He was suffering from fire-related injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Authorities said the cause of the fire was under investigation, but that early indications are that it was accidental.
