Allegiance Health Management plans to sell four financially struggling rural hospitals in Louisiana, including two in Acadiana, at the directive of the Louisiana Department of Health. The two Acadiana hospitals involved are Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte and Acadian Medical Center in Eunice. Both facilities have dealt with a number of problems, including unpaid payroll taxes, broken equipment, overdue bills, the loss of doctors and staff, and a shortage of critical supplies.
Red dye diesel is the same fuel as regular diesel, with the same performance, but it is dyed red to show it was sold as tax-free. It is only sold at select gas stations.
