NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The City of New Orleans said today that the traffic signal and traffic signal controller broke unexpectedly at the intersection of Louisiana Avenue and Magazine Street.

The city issued a traffic advisory for the area. The traffic signal and controller are being replaced. Work is expected to be completed next week.

A stop sign was temporarily placed at the intersection. However, crews asked people to avoid the intersection if possible. Alternate routes included Tchopitoulas Street or St. Charles Avenue for east and westbound traffic. Jackson Avenue and Napoleon Avenue are alternates for drivers headed lake or river-bound.
