CHALMETTE, La. (WVUE) - Barbara Longbotham doesn’t just love LSU — she lives LSU.

Step inside her Chalmette home, and you’ll find it overflowing with Tiger pride — from an LSU helmet-shaped telephone to purple-and-gold lawn decorations, even a striped fire hydrant in her yard.

“There’s only one thing that’s going through my mind right now and it’s LSU,” Longbotham said.

The 81-year-old superfan has been riding high since LSU’s walk-off win over Arkansas, which sent the Tigers to the College World Series championship series against Coastal Carolina.

“If anyone had taken my blood pressure, they’d have brought me directly to the hospital,” she joked.

Longbotham erupted when Jared Jones sealed the Tigers’ win.

“I was screaming and hollering, jumping up and down,” she said. “I was just so caught up in LSU’s win.”

LSU COLLEGE WORLD SERIES

She says her love for LSU started the year she was born and has only grown stronger over the decades.

A framed replica of her Grand Isle camp — decorated in purple and gold — hangs on her wall. The real version was destroyed during Hurricane Ida, but her Tiger spirit never wavered.

“If you have a knife on you, I’ll have purple and gold blood,” she laughed.

Longbotham is confident LSU will win it all this weekend.

“There’s really no doubt in my mind that we’re gonna win the World Series,” she said. “We’re gonna play Saturday and Sunday and that’s gonna be it.”
