How far would you go for LSU? Fans pay big to chase championship in Omaha
Flights, hotels, and tickets are adding up fast—but for LSU fans, the College World Series is worth every penny
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - How far are you willing to go for the LSU Tigers? For some superfans, the answer is: all the way to Omaha—no matter the price.
“I’m just so happy,” said one fan boarding a flight. “So happy to be going to Omaha. So happy to be going to Nebraska. Never thought I’d be saying that ever in my life.”
At Louis Armstrong International Airport, Tigers supporters are booking last-minute trips to see LSU face off against Coastal Carolina in the College World Series championship. But that kind of loyalty comes at a cost.

Round-trip flights to Omaha in time for Saturday’s 6 p.m. first pitch are running from $500-$1,200. Driving is a cheaper option, but it’s a 15-hour trek from New Orleans to Charles Schwab Field.
Hotels are another expense, with rooms ranging from $100 to $650 per night. Add on game tickets, selling between $200 and $1,000 depending on the seat, and the final tab could climb into the thousands.
But for LSU faithful, it’s not just about the game. There’s also the annual Jello Shot Challenge at Rocco’s Pizza & Cantina, where fans buy $5 shots to raise money for food charities.
Ask any Tiger fan who made the trip in 2023 when LSU won it all, and they’ll tell you the experience is priceless.
